AS/NZS 5377 - E-Waste Management System
The AS/NZS 5377 standard was created by the New Zealand Ministry of Environment and the Australian Government’s Department of the Environment to offer a consistent method for evaluating e-waste management systems.
This Standard establishes guidelines and minimum requirements for the collection, storage, transport, and handling of end-of-life electrical and electronic equipment in a safe and environmentally responsible manner. You can maximize re-use and material recovery from this system, along with reducing and eliminating the amount of waste from the equipment that is going to the disposal point. It also helps protect your workforce’s health as they work in cleaner conditions with proper waste management. This can also look great to your customers, as your practices reduce the damage to the environment while maximizing output.
An operational review of the National Television and Computer Recycling Scheme (NTCRS), which was established to manage the ongoing stability of recycling systems as the volume of e-waste increases exponentially, resulted in the requirement that all organisations engaged in E-waste recycling be certified to AS/NZS 5377.
