ISO/IEC 20000IT Service Management
ISO/IEC is the international standard for IT service management processes, as it ensures that the IT departments in different organizations are informed and make implement technological processes that are aligned with the business needs of the company and maintain the current best standards that are drawn out by the ISO/IEC 20000 framework of IT service management.
ISO/IEC 20000 is a way to benchmark an organization’s IT management system, which can be used to assess the state of the services, and whether it is meeting customer needs and requirements. Once the assessment is completed the IT department responsible for the IT Management System can make improvements in the services provided to the customers and creates a new independent assessment to improve those services in the future. The application of the service management system can be further tested with an independent assessment to make improvements in services through the internationally recognized ISO 20000 framework in correspondence to ITIL.
Benefits of ISO/IEC 20000 Compliance
There is a large range of benefits of the ISO 20000 certification for service providers:
The certification offers a competitive edge as the certification verifies and demonstrates a higher quality of service and reliability than other service providers.
Open yourself to new and key markets, as many organizations, especially in the public sector require that the IT service providers they contract show compliance with the ISO 20000 certification. It is an assured way of providing evidence that can dictate the way your organization is seen by the market.
Customers are better assured that their services will be delivered and all their requirements will be fulfilled. Changing standards and new technological innovations enforce a measurable level of improvement and create a culture of continual improvement as they assess their current level and can monitor, measure, and review their service management systems.
The IT Infrastructure Library is the most popular and widely adopted IT Service management system framework that is adopted across the world.
ITIL offers guidance on recommended ITSM best practices, including approaches taken and modifications made by organizations in response to local conditions, business requirements, and the maturity of the service provider.
Meanwhile, ISO 20000 establishes the benchmarks that service management practices ought to pursue. To prove that they are adhering to best practices, organizations can obtain independently audited certification to the Standard.
